Testimonials

Probably the best milk I have tried in India, and way better than most other countries. Balanced, and mild on the system, especially if you are sensitive to milk. Rich, smooth, and still low on calories.

Best Summer Drink

April 28, 2018

The pride and joy of Punjabi cuisine - the mighty Patiala-peg lassi, is probably one of the most loved beverages during the sweltering Indian summer. Smooth and creamy, the yoghurt-based refreshment , traditionally served in earthen pots called matkas, has miraculous powers that can cool you instantly, and is probably the reason why even in Ayurveda, it is considered to be a great summer cooler.

Ingredients Of Lassi

  • 750 gm yoghurt
  • 50 gm ice cubes
  • Salt or sugar
  • 200 ml water

How to Make Lassi -

  1. Crush the ice cubes in a blender.
  2. Add the yoghurt, water, salt or sugar.
  3. Blend for about 1 minute.
  4. Serve chilled.
  5. If you are making a namkeen lassi you can add masala like bhuna jeera and kala namak and as desired.

A2 Milk vs Ordinary Milk1

April 28, 2018

Milk is a great source of calcium and protein. Casein is the largest group of proteins found in milk which makes up about 80% of the total protein content. A2 cows are the earlier breeds of cows like the desi Indian cows or the African cows that produce this protein in their milk along with an amino acid called Proline. In the new hybrid breeds, the proline amino acid got converted to Histidine due to alteration of genes over the years. These are the A1 cows that include breeds like Holstein, Friesian and Ayrshire. Stay with me.

Proline is strongly bonded to a small protein called BCM 7, which prevents it from getting into the milk produced by A2 cows. On the other hand, Histidine holds a weak bond with BCM 7, so it is easily released in the GI tract of animals and can enter the human body on consumption of milk from A1 cows and interact with the digestive system and internal organs.

A2 milk with the good quality protein but it has been conveniently replaced by the high-yielding cross breed, popularly known as HF or Holstein Friesian in India which provides the A1 variety of milk. This is something you need to consider beyond the 'type' of milk.”

Ghee Benefits2

April 28, 2018

With the surge in popularity of health trends like the ketogenic diet, healthy fats have garnered a lot of attention lately. Right alongside familiar favorites like olive oil and coconut oil is ghee, a type of fat made by heating butter — ideally grass-fed butter — to boost its natural nutrient profile and flavor. Ghee is full of fat-soluble vitamins and healthy fatty acids, and ghee benefits can range from building stronger bones to enhancing weight loss.

Used for thousands of years and a staple in Ayurvedic healing practices, ghee is one of the most powerful healing foods out there. But what is ghee butter, and why should you add it to your pantry? Keep reading for everything you need to know about this super healthy fat.

Ghee Benefits

1. It Has a High Smoke Point

The smoke point is the temperature at which an oil begins to burn and smoke. Not only does heating a cooking fat above its smoke point put it at a greater risk of hitting its flash point and causing a fire, but it also breaks down important phytonutrients and causes the fat to oxidize and form harmful free radicals.

Unfortunately, most cooking oils with a high smoke point are less-than-stellar for your health. Canola oil, peanut oil, corn oil and soybean oil are usually genetically modified and also often partially hydrogenated to increase their stability.

Ghee, on the other hand, is an excellent choice for cooking because of its high smoke point and beneficial effects on health. The smoke point of ghee is 485 degrees Fahrenheit, which is much higher than the smoke point of butter at 350 degrees Fahrenheit. This means that you can easily use ghee for baking, sautéing and roasting without the risk of destroying the important nutrients that it contains that provide all these wonderful ghee benefits.

2. It’s Packed with Fat-Soluble Vitamins

Adding a few servings of ghee into your day is an excellent way to squeeze in some extra fat-soluble vitamins. Ghee can help boost your intake of vitamin A, vitamin E and vitamin K, all important nutrients that play a role in everything from maintaining healthy vision to keeping your skin glowing.

This can be especially crucial if you suffer from any conditions like leaky gut syndrome, IBS or Crohn’s, as your body may have difficulty absorbing these fat-soluble vitamins. Ghee benefits your health by providing a boost of these nutrients to help you meet your daily needs.

3. It’s Free of Lactose and Casein

One of the best ghee benefits is that it’s free of lactose and casein protein. Some individuals have a milk allergy, which may stem from a heightened sensitivity to casein, and others may be hypersensitive to lactose. For individuals with a casein allergy, the reaction may include swelling of lips, mouth, tongue, face or throat; hives; or congestion.

Those with a lactose intolerance have a difficult time digesting the milk sugar lactose, but symptoms are generally much less dangerous than a casein allergy. Symptoms of lactose intolerance may include bloating, flatulence, nausea, vomiting, gurgling and cramps. The majority of people who have sensitivities to either casein or lactose don’t have an issue with ghee, as these elements have been removed through skimming and straining.

4. It Contains Conjugated Linoleic Acid

Ghee is jam-packed with conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), a fatty acid associated with a long list of health benefits. Some studies have found that CLA may be effective in reducing body fat, preventing cancer formation, alleviating inflammation and even lowering blood pressure.

Keep in mind that grass-fed dairy provides a higher concentration of this important fatty acid. Opt for grass-fed ghee whenever possible, or be sure to use grass-fed butter if you’re making ghee at home.

5. It’s Loaded with Butyrate

Butyrate, or butyric acid, is a short-chain fatty acid that plays a central role in gut health. Some studies have suggested that it may help support healthy insulin levels, fight off inflammation, and provide relief for individuals suffering from conditions like Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis

Gir Cow3

April 28, 2018

Experts and their studies have said that Indian Organic Cows or Indian Cows reared at organic farms come with a number of advantages that are not only environment friendly but also cost effective. If provided with the right elements in their breeding environment, they can indeed be a farmer’s wealth.

To name a few, it is said that organic cows require fewer breeding attempts when compared to conventional cows. They also produce milk through twice as many, shorter lactations than do hormone-infused conventional cows – all while living longer. Besides, researchers have also discovered that cows on organic dairy farms are healthier and less stressed than conventional cows, largely thanks to a more natural, forage-based diet instead of the grain and ground-up bones that usually pass as cattle feed on factory farms. Further, studies in the same line have shown that cows on healthier, forage-based diets produce far less waste than those on conventional dairy farms, and as a result, most organic farms reduce manure methane emissions by 60-80%, thus, contributing to a healthy environment for both, the Indian Cows and human beings
